European Athletics has officially added 50km women to Berlin 2018.

Following its successful introduction at a major championship this summer at the IAAF World Championships London 2017, the women’s 50km race walk has been added to the competition programme for the Berlin 2018 European Athletics Championships.

The event will take place on the opening day of the Championships, Tuesday 7 August, and the women will start with the men in the very first event of the championship.

The entry standard for 50km has been set in:

- 4:50:00 (obtained in a 50km competition)

- 1:39:00 (obtained in a 20km competition)
