08/01/2018   Sheffield (GBR): Callum Wilkinson and Gemma Bridge win English Championships






On Sunday 7 January in Sheffield, the Indoor Walking Championships were held, organized by the England Athletics, on the distance of 3,000m indoors for both men and women and with a mixed race reserved to U15 (boys and girls) over the distance of 1,000m indoor.

 

3.000m indor walk men

 

The men’s 3000m walk saw a win and a new personal best for Callum Wilkinson as he claimed the title in 11.30.77 to go faster than his gold medal winning 11.35.0 of last year and 11.31.43 split from Bratislava three weeks later.

Silver was taken by another U23 Cameron Corbishley with 12.24.99 as Tom Partington, an Under 20 completed the medallists in 12.55.61.

 

 

3.000m indoor walk women

 

In the women’s race the was a win for Gemma Bridge (coached by Mark Wall) in 13:40.03 in front of Erika Kelly who set a new PB of 14:01.64 (previous of 14:18.64 established always in Sheffield past February 14, 2017). 

Third place went to Poland’s Agatha Kowalska (14:06.61) as Ana Garcia was the next domestic athlete home with 14:53.50.

 

 

The championships also hosted a 1Km race for Under 15s with the first boy home Owen Bradshaw in 5:09.84 and Abigail Smith the first girl in 5:21.16
