15/01/2018   Marathonas (GRE): Konstantinos Ntentopoulos and Angeliki Makri won the 50km race walk Championships in Greece






In  the  Olympic  rowing  center near Marathon (Schinias  beach, GRE) 40 km east  of  Athens  took place  on January 14, 2018 the  national race walking Championships of Greece on 50 km and the 6th race walking winter games.
 
The  national  championship was  a  trail  for  the  European championship in  Berlin.
It  was also the occasion for Greece to see at the start the 1st champiomship  for  50 km  Women.
 
At the start also  2 foreigner  athletes: Gregorio Angelini (ITA) in men and Ivana Renits (CRO) in women who  unforunately  didn't  finish the  competiton  cause  of  the  bad  weather.
 
The  weather  was  cold, with a lot of wing and sometimes  raining with a temperature  between 5° to  9° Celsius. This  maked  problems  to the  athletes and of  them  didn’t finish  the  competiton.
 
50km women
 

Angeliki  Makri (GRE), born in 1978 and mother  of 3  young  children  was the  1st  winner  of  50  km  women  Championships after finishing the race in 4:56:00. In 2000, she stopped her race walk activity to dedicate at the family and last year she come back.

Second place to Nikolitsa Andreopoulos (GRE) in 5:05:39,

Third place to Eftathia Kourkoutsaki (GRE) in 5:34.21

Victory to Konstantinos Ntentopoulos (GRE) in 4:24:57 at his second victory in these 50km Championships.
Second place to Dimitris Tsioridas (GRE) in 4:26:36
Third place to Kostas Stamelos (GRE) in 4:35:18
 
In other races interesting was the result of  Yiorgos  Tzatzimakis  (GRE) who walked for  the first time 20km (1:30:36) in order to have a long distance train for  the U20 World  Championships in  Filand next  summer.
