In the intense weekend that characterized this end of January, the Indoor Championships of Ukraine took place in Sumy (UKR).
The two races took place on Saturday Juanuary 27, 2018 during the first of the two days of competition in the small, but operationally valid Sumy Palaindoor, at 10:30 for the men who competed on the distance of 5.000m indoor walk (15 athletes at the start), and at 11.00 for the women who competed on the unusual 5.000m indoor walk (15 athletes at the start).
5.000m indoor men
Victory for Oleksiy Kazanin (UKR) with th time of 19:48.48 best season for the athlete and not far from the personal best established in the same championships in Sumy last year on February 11, 2017 (19:37.68)
Absent Ruslan Dmytrenko (UKR), Ivan Losev (UKR) and Serhiy Budza (UKR), Oleksiy Kazanin, however, is immediately behind the latter in the seasonal indoor list 2017-2018.
Very interesting to note that today in the first 10 athletes of the seasonal list seven are Ukrainian, two are French and one is Turkish.
Second place to Andriy Hrechkovskyy (UKR) in 20:19.02
Third place to Oleh Svystun (UKR) in 20: 23.58
Fifteen athletes at the start; 13 have completed the race and 2 DNF
5.000m indoor women
Ukraine has opted for this term for its Indoor Championships also for the women's category.
Victory to Tamara Havrylyuk (UKR) with a time of 22:39.85.
Second place to Mariya Filyuk (UKR) in 22:41.42
Third place to Alina Tsviliy (UKR) in 23:16.85
