On the second day of the India Race Walk Championships, the two 20km road walk in Vinay Marg were held next to the Nerhu Park and there are two of the most beautiful Hindu temples (that of Bahirav Batuk and that of Prachin Shakti Peeth)
20km women
The race had a must-have favorite Khushbir Kaur (IND) who was also the national record holder with a time of 1:31:40 established on May 3, 2014 in Taicang World Cup (CHN).
The main challenger was Soumya B (IND) born on 20.4.1990 and therefore not yet eighteen.
Well, the young Soumya B (IND) has managed to beat the most titled Khushbir Kaur (IND).
Up to half the race the two athletes were together and then Soumya B forced the pace and distanced the rival progressively.
Victory to Soumya B with the time of 1:31:28.72 (1:31:29) which also represents the new Indian record on 20km road walk women.
Second place to Khushbir Kaur in 1:32:17.96 (1:32:17)
Third place to Karamjit Kaur (IND) in 1:34:08.60 (1:34:09)
Sixteen athletes at the start of which 15 have completed the race and 1 DQ.
20km men
Also this test had an obligatory favorite Irfan Kholum Tohdi (IND) holder of the Indian record on 20km road walk, established in London on August 4, 2012.
The twenty-eight athlete from Kerala, however, had to fight until the end to win the title of his Country.
Only 72/100 of a second separated him on arrival from his major opponent.
Victory to Irfan KT (IND) in 1:21:31.25 (1:21:32) in front of Manish Singh Rawat (IND) in 1:21:31.72 (1:21:32).
In third place Neeraj (IND) in 1:21: 9.20 (1:21:40).
Two other athletes finished the 20km in less than 1:22:00
Sixty-one athletes at the start of which 50 completed the race, 2 DNF and 9 DQ
However, there remains a big doubt in the judgmet parameter in seeing a videoclip posted on a Social Network.
