18/04/2018   IAAF Race Walking Committee Stakeholder Syrvey

We asked Tim Berrett for a statistical advance on the recent race walk survey.
He kindly and promptly sent us the following reply, which we thank him for.

At this time, and with the permission of the other IAAF Race Walking Committee members, I can share the following summary information table with you for publication.

We have combined the responses from both English (column 1) and Spanish (column 2) surveys to generate the Total (column 3) results.

As the table below indicates, a total of 1,690 responses were received. Of this number, 1,091 individuals completed responses to all survey questions (including each of the ones that asked for written explanations or suggestions).

Responses were received from all IAAF areas, and precisely 100 countries.

Therefore, we can say with some degree of certainty that the results are representative of the stakeholders. Statistically speaking, the survey results will be be an accurate representation of stakeholder sentiments to within at least 2.97% nineteen times out of twenty for all questions. For some questions, this confidence interval increases to as high as + or - 2.38%.

The IAAF and the IAAF Race Walking Committee will organise a Race Walking Seminar in Taicang on Friday 4th May as a prelude to the IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships.

We are still in the process of reviewing the survey responses and intend to present the key results during the seminar, which will also provide an opportunity for us to brief members of the Race Walk community about some important developments affecting our discipline.

The seminar will also invite further input and ideas from stakeholders that will help shape the future of Race Walking. All accredited Team Members (Athletes and Officials) are invited, and encouraged, to attend.
