Yesterday took place in Kočevje the first edition of the Slovenian Championship of 10,000m track walk for the U20 and U23 categories.
Being race walk in Slovenia at the beginning, the participation could not be numerous, since the race was not open too.
At the start therefore only 3 athletes (1 male U23 and 2 female U20). Given the climate (29°C and an annoying side wind), even the departure time was not one of the most obvious (at 12:00).
In the end, however, there were 2 national records: among the males the Athletic of Ljubliana, Anže Tesovnik (SLO) became the first Slovenian athlete who "experienced" the pit-lane, even if unfortunately he did not finish the race, having received after the 4th red card.
Among the females Eva Čanadi (SLO) of Koper improved significantly and ended the race in 57:11.74 (a week ago in Zrenjanin in Serbia at the Balkan Road Walk Championships she did not go under 59:08.0), improving more 5 minutes the previous record U20 (Tanja Grgić, established on June 15, 1991), which is also the new Slovenian record.
In second place was Ana Intihar (SLO) of Celje with a time of 1:05:00.88.
