Let's see now the women's teams we believe are favored in each events, which this year will take place with the new Pit Lane Rule.

 
 
50km women
 
Imagining the result of a team competition just at the third edition of the 50km women as "major event" is a very difficult thing.
 
Meanwhile, we must say that there are 33 entered athletes, but the nations that have a chance to get a medal are practically five: China, Ecuador, Spain, Ukraine and the United States while the others will compete only for the individual standing.
 
These following selections of the teams
 
- China decided the selection after the 35km held in Huangshan, CHN (Mar. 4, 2018)
They are part of it: Li Maucuo (4:47:28 in 2017), Liang Rui (2:49:23 in the 35km in 2018), Ma Faying (4:49:54 in 2017), Yin Hang (4:08:58 in 2017 and 2:50:14 in the 35km in 2018) and Zhou Kang (4:34:01 in 2016 and 2:50:31 in the 35km in 2018).
 
- Ecuador decided the selection after the 50km of the South American Sucua Championships, ECU (Mar. 10, 2018)
They are part of it: Magaly Bonilla (4:19:43 - 4th in the world list in 2018), Johana Ordonez (4:28:58 - 5th in the world list in 2018), and Paola Bibiana Perez (2:24:33 on 30km in 2017).
 
- Spain decided the selection after the 50km of Burjassot, ESP (Feb. 25, 2018)
They are part of it: Julia Takacs (4:13:04 - 1st in the world list in 2018), Ainhoa ​​Pinedo (4:18:56 - 2nd in the world list in 2018), Mar Juarez and Maria Larios who had not finished the Burjiassot race.
 
- Ukraine decided the selection after the 50km of Lutsk, UKR (Mar. 11, 2018)
They are part of it: Alina Tsvilji (3:04:19 on 35km in 2018), Lyudmyla Shelest (3:09:03 on 35km in 2018 and 4:32:36 on 50km in 2017), Vasylyna Vytovshchyk (4:37:55 on 50km in 2017), Kseniya Radko (4:34:49 on 50km in 2017) and Khrystina Yudkina (4:32:14 on 50km in 2017).
 
- finally the USA that chose the selection after the 50km of Santee, USA (Jan. 20, 2018)
They are part of it: Kathleen Burnett (4:21:51 - 17th in the world list in 2018), Erin Taylor-Talcott (4:54:49 - 21st in the world list in 2018), and Susan Randall (4:54:12 on the 50km in 2017).

The last edition was won by China with a score of 14 points in front Australia (40) and Colombia (58).
 
Also in this edition the pretenders for the medals are more or less the same as the 2016 edition.

- China decided the selection after the 20km held in Huangshan, CHN (Mar. 3, 2018)
It includes: Qieyang Shenjie (1:27:36 - 3rd in the world list in 2018), Yang Jiayu 1:27:36 - 4th in the world list in 2018), Wang Yingliu (1:28:37 - 7th in the world list of 2018), Wang Na (1:29:15 - 12th in the world list in 2018) and Yang Liujing (1:29:56 - 16th in the world list in 2018).
 
- Italy with the following team: Antonella Palmisano (1:28:41 - 8th in the world list of 2018), Eleonora Anna Giorgi (1:28:49 - 10th in the world list of 2018), Valentina Trapletti (1:31:36 - 31st in the 2018 world list), Eleonora Dominici (1:33:33 - 59th in the world list od 2018) and Nicole Colombi (1:34:50 - 79th in the world list of 2018)
 
These are the two teams that we believe should fight for the most prestigious medal as happened in the last edition until the moment (shortly before arrival) when it was interrupted by a DQ.
This year the Pit Lane Rule reshuffles the cards of the game.

The world rankings of 2018, and the history of the latest editions on the 10km U20 gives no room for any doubt: victory should not escape China. More interesting will be the battle for the other medals that sees this year involved in addition to the usual Australia and Spain also Japan and Turkey.
