On May 6th, a stage of the National Grand Prix of Russia was organized by the Irida Sport Club, at Podolsk in Mis in the Moscow region.
Here is a brief report by Sergey Nochevnyy, representative of the athletes.
The strongest walkers traditionally find themselves among the participants of the 22nd "Podmoskovye" walk festival which is a stage of the National Grand Prix.
10km men
In men's 10 km race the pace was set by the repeated owner of a national trophy, the prize-winner of National Championship Alexey Golovin (RUS).
After having walked for the first thousand meters in 3:52, the leader has broken off the pack, and then walked the fractions of 5km around 4:00.
When the gap reached 50 seconds, Alexey Golovin calmed down, more quietly, showing to the judges a style of quality.
On arrival he stopped the clock in 40:01; in this season on this distance no one has walked faster (the second is Zhang Yao, CHN who in Taicang on May 5, 2018 obtained 40:07).
Second place to Alexey Shevchuk (RUS) - from Chelyabinsk - who finished the race in 40:56
Third place at the Irida Sport Club representative: Maxim Krasnov (RUS) in 42:12.
Fourth place to Mikhail Ivanov (RUS) in 42:45.
10km women
The women's 10 km race was won by Zhanna Zholobova (RUS) - Moscow - in 47:26
Second silver place for Anastasia Slivar (RUS) - Moscow - in 48:30
The third place, as well as in the men's race, was won by the organizing team, the Irida Sport Club, and was obtained by Evdokiya Korotkova (RUS) in 50:33.
Fourtyh place to Anna Musilovich (RUS) in 51:50.
The competitions were held thanks to the sponsorship of the Busch company.
Inside the festival there was also a special event on the distance of 73km dedicated to a great victory that took place on May 9, 1944 during the Second World War.
