At the qualitative level there was the great Asian domination with China and Japan in the foreground, while the other continents had to make do with crumbs.

Asia has won 9 medals out of 12,75%, while Europe, the Americas and Oceania have had to settle for only one medal (8.33%).

In the supremacy of China the Mexican González, the dominant winner of the 20km, entered. with an impressive lap, from 16km to 18km in 8:07 and the Australian Tallent that in the 50 km she found the way to get those gratifications she could not get in 20 km.

Only one athlete of Europe in the first 8 (Julia Takacs - ESP). This confirms how in the old continent - despite the road indicated by Ines Henriques, (in crisis here in Taicang) - the message has not yet been fully understood.

Seven athletes in Europe in the first 16, four in Asia, four in the Americas and one  in Oceania. A good distribution by continent, even if the performances after the eighth place are largely improved.

Europe defended itself well, but on the back of positions. Asia is represented by China alone which, however, has shown some crack on the susbstitute players. Absent Lu Xiuzhi and finished her fantastic career Liu Hong, China will have to work quickly to find viable alternatives to Qieyang Shenjie and Yang Jiayu. The American continent continues to live on the three, no longer very young, Gonzalez, De Sena and Garcià.

At the level of semi-finalists, Europe is good with Italy, Spain and Ukraine who place two athletes. As mentioned before, Asia is represented by China alone. The Americas find sap from Mexico, Brazil, Peru and Colombia. Totally absent Oceania (Australia by some years have failed to express very good athletes) and Africa.

The perspective of the European Championsgips and Asian Games

European Championships

20km women

There were two counter-performances (Palmisano and Cabecinha) that must necessarily be taken into account for Berlin. Italy presents itself as the big favorite with Palmisano and Giorgi. Spain will defend itself tightly. La Lituanian, Virbalyte is to be taken into consideration. The Portuguese, Cabecinha, will certainly be one of the protagonist. After two years, has returned to hig level, Drahotová (CZE): she will be a bad customer for all. In any case, Palmisano seems to detach herself clearly from the others.

50km women

Despite the counter-performance in the Cup, the favorite still looks like the Portuguese Henriques. We will have to watch from the Spanish, primarily the Takacs; from Ukraine and Belarus.

Asian Games

20km women

For gold and silver there are no doubts: they will go to the two Chinese. The bronze will be played by a Japanese, an Indian and maybe a Kazakh. For the first two positions it will again fight until the last meter between the Tibetan Qieyang (winner twice on two this year) and the world champion Yang Jiayu.

In the Asian Games there is no 50km women.
