09/06/2018   Jesolo (ITA): Stefano Chiesa and Lidia Sanchez Puebla win the 3rd edition of Mediterranean U23 Championships

Very hot day in Jesolo for the first day of the U23 Mediterranean Championships.

Departure on the rhythm of 4:12/km with the favorite in the group: Gianluca Picchiottino (ITA), Stefano Chiesa (ITA), Manuel Bermudez (ESP), Ivan Lopez (ESP), Georgios Tzatzimakis (GRE) and Salih Korkmaz ( TUR).
In the first 5km in addition to the usual initial skirmishes with the usual variations at the head of the race happens very little.
These are the steps every 1,000m:
- 1,000m: 4:12.4
- 2.000m: 8:26.9
- 3.000m: 12:45.1
- 4.000m: 17:06.1
- 5.000m: 21:09.4

The technical situation sees at halfway, Stefano Chiesa (ITA) burdened with one red card, while Georgios Tzatzimakis (GRE) and Salih Korkmaz (TUR) have two.

Towards 6.000 meters, Stefano Chiesa (ITA) for es the pace but he Washington immediately joined by Gianluca Picchiottino (ITA) and Martin Bermudez (ESP). Picchiottino goes to lead, but it's a straw fire. Stefano Chiesa forces again the pace and in one round everything changes.
The race for the victory is over. Stefano Chiesa will no longer be reached.
Instead, the race is interesting for the other podium positions.
Manuel Bermudez got the better of Gianluca Picchiottino, while Georgios Tzatzimakis was disqualified.
