19/06/2018   Sumy (UKR): Oleksiy Kazanin and Mariya Filyuk win 20km Ukrainian Championships






Last race of past week, are the 20km Championships in Ukraine.

 
The test took place in Sumy on the road circuit that had already hosted other events.
A muggy heat was expected, but in the night a storm cooled the air and so at the start at 8:30 the weather conditions were ideal for walkers.
 
After this test the athletes selected for the European Championship will move to Turkey at a height of 1.500m for a training stage and will return to Ukraine three weeks before Berlin.
 
 
20km men
 
At the start 21 athletes including Mert Atli (TUR) searching the entry standard to participate in Berlin.
 
Leaders were immediately the pair formed by Oleksiy Kazanin (UKR) and Eduard Zabuzhenko (UKR), who were joined for some laps by Dmytro Sobchuck (UKR) and Serhiyb Susyk (UKR).
 
With a change in speed in the final part of the race he won the title of Ukrainian Champion of 20km Oleksiy Kazanin (UKR) in 1:23.27
Second place to Eduard Zabuzhenko (UKR) in 1:23:51, athlete U23 of sure interest.
Third place to Dmytro Sobchuck (UKR) in 1:24:52.

Twenty athletes at the start in this race including Semiha Mutlu Ozdemir (TUR)
 
The fight for the victory was up to the last few meters a two-way affair between Mariya Filyuk (UKR) and Tamara Havrylyuk-Stasyuk (UKR).
The victory went to Mariya Filyuk (UKR) who recently changed her coach to the care of Valentina Borysiuk together with teammate Valentina Myronchuk (UKR) who was the favorite on the eve.
Some small controversy has accompanied this victory for the fact that Mariya Filyuk has finished the race with two red cards for lack of contact while the second was immune.
 
Victory then for Mariya Filyuk (UKR) in 1:34:11
Second place for Tamara Havrylyuk-Stasyuk (UKR) in 1:34:20
Third place for Valentyna Myronchuck (UKR) in 1:36:01.
