We continue the report of the intense weekend of race walk in Europe with the women's competitions of the Spanish U18 Championships, whose first day is being held in Gijon (ESP).
Today was held
5.000m track walk U18 girls
The fight for the victory and the distribution of the medals was a matter of three between Ana Pulgarin Cardeno (ESP), Maria Teresa Morata Morano (ESP) and Iria Riva Iglesias (ESP).
The favors of the eve were focused in particular on the first two that in Ciudad Real (ESP) on last June 9 they had both got their personal best on the distance:
- Ana Pulgarin Cardeno: 24:49.23
- Maria Teresa Morata Moreno: 24:52.11
Iria Rivas Iglesias on the other hand had a personal best of just over 25:00.00 (25:08.70 established in Pontevedra, ESP on April 29)
After a race in which the three athletes have tried in every way to get the best result the victory went to Ana Pulgarin Cardeno (ESP) in 24:44.11
Second place to Iria Rivas Iglesias (ESP) in 24:45.48 which establishes her own new personal best
The bronze medal of the third position goes to Maria Teresa Morata Moreno (ESP) in 24:49.76.
Twenty-three athletes at the start of which twenty-one have completed the race 2 DNF.


10.000m track walk U18 boys
The fight for the victory initially seemed like a three-way affair, between Pedro Conesa Ceron (ESP), Paul Mcgrath Benito (ESP) and Francisco Sospedra Escat (ESP).
In the final of the race they managed to break the wall of 46:00.00 only two athletes who played the most valuable medals.
Victory to Pedro Conesa Ceron (ESP) in 45:33.67
Second place to Paul Mcgrath Benito (ESP) in 45:48.14
Third place to Francisco Sospedra Escat (ESP) in 46: 05.89
Twenty-seven athletes at the start of which twenty-six completed the race and one DNF.
