02/07/2018   Yohann Diniz will not take part in the 2018 European Championships

It's official: Yohann Diniz will not take part in the 2018 European Championships in the 50km.

These are his words on his Facebook profile

Hello everyone, unfortunately, I will not be able to defend my European title that I won for the first time in Göteborg in 2006 and that I managed to keep in Barcelona (2010) and then in Zurich (2014) during an epic race ending with the world record 50 km.

I wish the best to my rivals for this beautiful race and give them an appointment next year when I will do my best to keep my world title and then look for the consecration during the Olympics in Tokyo in 2020.

The reason of my withdrawal is a fracture of fatigue at the level of the left pubic symphysis. That fracture had already hampered me during the winter. I really tried to return in the best conditions, but the pain was too high to be able to continue an optimal preparation and above all not to compromise the future deadlines. Therefore, I will take a rest phase to regenerate physically, to be 100% again in the recovery phase and prepare the next targets in an optimal form.

Thank you for your support.
