21/07/2018   London (GBR): Bosworth at world record on 3.000m track walk, which had been resisting for 28 years

After 28 years Tom Bosworth (GBR) broke the best outdoor world performance over 3000 meters track walk, which was signed by Giovanni De Benedictis (ITA) and which was established in San Giovanni Valdarno on May 19, 1990 in 10:47.11 and that now Bosworth has brought to 10:43.84.

This year, however, on February 25th, Bosworth (GBR) had obtained a better time in Glasgow (GBR) (10:30.28), which is currently the best worldwide performance on indoor distance.

The opportunity was that today when at 14:05 in the program of the Diamond League in London 2018 was also included the race walk test on this unusual distance.

At the start nine athletes: five from Great Britain, one from South Africa, one from the USA, one from Canada and one from Mexico.

Second place to Lebogang Shange (RSA) in 10:47.08, who was the strogest opponend for the victory at Bosworth, thus establishing the best ever performance of the continent of Africa on this distance.
Today even he managed to break down the previous record of Giovanni de Benedictis, albeit 3/100 of a second.
In third place was Callum Wilkinson (GBR) who finished in 11: 13.77 touching the personal best of 11:13.09 set in Leeds on June 12, 2017.
