Guadix (ESP) hosted yesterday the "VIII Campeonato de Espana de marcha de invierno de promocion" with an interesting series of races that began at 16:00 with the 3km U16 female and continued with the remaining races on the distance of 5km reserved for male U16, male and female U18, and male and female U20.
In the morning, an international seminar was held at the Centro de Profesores de Guadix: "New scientific trends applied to the training of race walking" with three interesting reports:
- Jose Manuel Rodriguez, Doctor of Mathematics at the University of Malaga: Mathematics applied to athletic walking
- Paulo Murtas (POR), Coach of Ana Cabecinha: Training of young walkers
- Pascal Chirac (FRA), Responable of race walking in France: Guidelines for a correct training in altitude.
The number of participants was of good level. Spanish race walk (Spain is among the most important nations in the world in this specialty), can always offer a good standard of participation.
U16 Category
- 5km boys: victory to Pablo Rodriguez Rojas (ESP) in 23:48, in front of Asier Diaz De Diego (ESP) in 24:23 and Francisco Espin Valera (ESP) in 24:38.
- 3km girls: victory to Silvia Vilar Nieto (ESP) in 14:50 (last year when she was very young she finished third in 15:14), in front of Isabel Garcia Sanchez (ESP) in 14:51 and of Griselda Serret Menendez (ESP) in 16:01.
U18 Category
- 5km boys: victory to Pablo Pastor Marin (ESP) in 21:50, in front of Sergio Martinez Martinavarro (ESP) in 22:25 and Jose Luis Hidalgo Rodriguez (ESP) in 22:38.
- 5km girls: victory to Alicia Lumbreras Gonzalez (ESP) in 24:27, in front of Maria Moya Del Campo (ESP) in 25:31 and Celia Vilchez Ferrari (ESP) in 25:31.
The most interesting races were those of the 5km U20 women and the 5km U20 men who presented the athletes of greatest interest.

Victory to Ana Pulgarin Cardeno (ESP) in 24:18.
Second place to Gemma Mora Martinez (ESP) in 24:26
Third place to Maria Teresa Morata Moreno (ESP) in 24:33

Victory to the eve favorite Pedro Conesa Ceron (ESP) in 21:23.
Second place to Eloy Hornero Gallent (ESP) in 21:28.
Third place to Jose Manuel Naranjo Murillo (ESP) in 21:48 who fight until the finish line and win on Daniel Jimeno Rivera (ESP) at the same time (21:48).
The two most important eventsof the XIV Memorial Alcalde race valid for the XXXIII Grand Prix City of Guadix have seen the following results.
