07/01/2019   Nantes (FRA): Gabriel Bordier brokes the 5.000m indoor U23 record that resisted from 21 years

When Anthony Gillet (FRA) had broken the U23 category record in the 5000m indoor walk (it was January 1998) with a mark of 19:33.42, Gabriel Bordier was a four-month-old. It took 21 years, the age of Gabriel, to see Antony Gillet's indoor record fall.

Gabriel Bordier was very close to him last Dec. 9, 2018 in Rennes (FRA) when he stopped the clock in the time of 19:37.50, but on the indoor track of Nantes (FRA) he significantly accelerated the pace and literally exploded the record France U23 bringing it to 19:09.44.

The 21-year-old medical student is coached by Gilbert Berlin and Gérard Lelièvre, the latter an extremely well-known name in the French race walk of the 1980s and 90s.

With this result indoor Bordier approaches his indoor best personal outdoor (19:03.04) obtained in Nantes last May 19, 2018.

Second place to Sebastien Delaunay (FRA) in 21:33.45
Third place to Alexis Robichon (FRA) in 21:47.08
