11/02/2019   Pombal (POR): Ana Cabecinha (9 times) and Joao Vieira (19 times) Indoor Champions of Portugal






On Saturday 9 February, also in Portugal, the Indoor Championships took place with the two usual walking events on the distance of 5.000m indoor for men and 3.000m indoor for women.

 
 
3.000m indoor women
 
The 34 year-old Ana Cabecinha (POR) did not have any difficulty in winning her ninth indoor title, and the eighth in a row.
The time of the athlete coached by Paulo Murta for Club Oriental Pechao was 12:49:80 which is currently the second seasonal performance on the distance after the mark of 12:35.23 of Meryem Bekmez (TUR) obtained in Istanbul (TUR) on Jan. 13, 2019.
 
Second place to the teammate Edna Barros (POR) in 13:16.08
Third place to Vitoria Oliveira (POR) in 13:21.62
 
Twelve athletes at the start and all have completed the race
 
 

 

 
 
5.000m indoor men
 
He was the predestined favorite of the race, Joao Vieira (POR) who in spite of his age (42years) wanted to break down the wall of 20:00.00.
He did not have much difficulty getting his nineteenth title with the mark of 19:47.48
 
Second place to Miguel Carvalho (POR) in 20:07.63
Third place to Paulo Martins (POR) in 20:57:47
 
At the start there were thirteen athletes and all completed the race.
