14/02/2019   The former Slovenian walker Milan Balek, who holds all race walking records of Slovenia, died






A sad news upsets the world of Slovenia's race walk

 
 
On Monday February 11th 2019 died one of the greatest Yugoslav and Slovenian walkers Milan Balek (SLO) current holder of all Slovenian national race walking records:
- 10.000m (42:19.1)
- 20km (1.28:03.2)
- 30km (2:24:43)
- 50km (4:18:28).
 
Milan Balek was born in Murska Sobota (SLO) on 17.10.1950.
 
We remember his participation in many competitions in Italy in the 80s and early 90s.
 
In 1990 he participated with the national team of Yugoslavia at 20 km of the European Championships in Split where he was ranked 22nd in 1:35:28.
In 1991, the year of his retirement from the competitions took part in the Rome-Castelgandolfo.
 
We see him at the passage on the New Appian Way in front of Fabio Ruzzier (21.06.1991).
