22/03/2019   Alegna Gonzalez (MEX) will not compete in Pan American Games in Lima

Alegna Gonzalez will not compete in the Pan American Games of Lima 2019 and the World Athletics Championships in Doha 2019 to satisfy her physiological development and look for the qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games next year.

Her coach Igracio Zamudio said that "the decision not to participate in these very demanding competitions is based on his young age (20 years) in which inexperience and lack of physical maturity still play a prominent role"
For distances such as the 20km and longer, Zamudio declared the best phase of an athlete from 25 years to 35, and sometimes even more.

Instead, she will be present at the World University Games scheduled from July 19 to 30 in Naples, Italy.

Alegna Muñoz González won the gold medal at the U20 World Championship in Tampere (44:13.88) in Finland in 2018 and at the Taicang World Marching Championship, (45:08) in China both in 10km distance. For this reason Zamudio wants targeted programming on her sporting growth.

On April 2, Zamudio and his team will travel to compete in Podebrady, Czech Republic, where Alegna will have her second official competition over 20 kilometers.
The young native of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, had already competed in Podebrady in 2018, but declared Zamudio, had participated only as part of a test that ended in 1:33:43, so next April 6 will be his first test official of the 20km.
