29/04/2019   Roma (ITA): world-wide results for Stano and Palmisano on 10.000 track walk

The renovated Stadio delle Terme in Rome dedicated to the late sports journalist Paolo Rosi could not have been better inaugurated.

In this ancient and beautiful facility with the renewed runway the concentration center of Centro Italia was held for the track race walking events of the Italian Clubs Championship.

10.000m track walk men

The expected protagonists were two: Massimo Stano who was the favorite on the eve and Gianluca Picchiottino as an outsider.
And they didn't deny it.

The result was a good race, but what came out even more was the performance of considerable importance for Massimo Stano who obviously represents the athlete's new personal best (38:28.05) and which shatters the previous one on track (40:24.60) obtained on Apr. 23, 2017 in Bovisio Masciago (ITA).

These are his split times lap by lap of an almost impressive regularity if one makes exception of the round between 6.600m and 7.000m which was covered by the athlete in 1:30:9.

A historical result that is set in the statistics as the second ever performance in Italy on the distance behind the 37:38.6 obtained by Ivano Brugnetti on the Sesto San Giovanni track (ITA) on Jul. 27, 2005 which then represented the best world distance performance.
As then also the result of Stano ranks first in the 2019 seasonal list on the distance ahead of the 38:30.61 obtained in Sydney (AUS) on April 5 last.

Second place in the Rome race for Gianluca Picchiottino (ITA) in 39:50.93 the only athlete to attempt to follow the Stano pace at a distance.
Third place for Niccolò Coppini (ITA) in 42:52.15

10.000m track walk women

In the women's race the wait was only to know the performance that Antonella Palmisano (ITA) would have done because there was no doubt about her victory.

Also for her an interesting mark (42:40.9) although far from the personal record of 41:57.29 obtained in Orvieto, ITA two years ago.

Also in this case the mark of Antonella Palmisano represents at the moment the best seasonal world performance on the distance of 10.000m walk on track, in front of 43:41.51 obtained by Sandra Lorena Arenas (COL) in Camberra (AUS) on Jan.18, 2019.

After during the Australian Championships in Sydney on April 6, 2019 Katie Hayward (AUS) and Jemima Montag (AUS) obtained better marks in a mixed race, times that are not included in the IAAF list. We have however considered them, but we reserve the right to cancel them if the IAAAF does not take them into consideration.
