The 51st South American Mayores Championships were held this weekend at the Videna stadium in Lima.
The tests of these championships were particularly interesting and valid as "test events" of the next Pan-American Games that will take place in Lima between July and early August.
The race walk events took place on the morning of Saturday 25 May for women (20,000m track walk), and today the same race for men at 7:30 in the morning.
Needless to say, in particular the men's trial was full of anxiety probably not so much for the result of the race itself, but for the news of the strong 8° Richter earthquake that devastated the Northern Peru area.
Fortunately, in the Lima area the shock was felt with less intensity than at the epicenter, but as our friend Pierce O'Callaghan told us via Social network, we leave you to imagine the rude awakening he had at 2:00 in the night with an iPad that hung around alone on of the 18th floor of the Hotel that housed it.
And just over 5 hours later ready for the men's race to start.
But let's get to the results.
