26/06/2019   Katerini (GRE): Greek U20 Championships - Victories of Fiaska and Mortzakis






On  Saturday  22  and 23 of  June  in  Katerini (GRE)   450 km  north   of Athens, under  the  holly  mountain  of  ancient  Greece Olympus   taken  place  the   the  national  championship  U20.

 

The  10.000m track walk, were  on  Saturday  22 of  June  in early in the  morning with  20 athletes (12 boys & 8 girls)  in the  start   line. The  weather  was  very  hot  and high  humidity, but  these  didn't  stop  the  athletes  to  make   pretty  good  time.

The  star  of  the  competition  was  the  olympic  medalist  in  Buenos  Aires,   Olga Fiaska,  who  won  the  10000m with  new  personal  record 46.39.06, only  few  seconds  far  from  the  national  record  46.29.20, which   belongs  to  olympic  medalist  Athanasia  Tsoumeleka.

Olga Fiaska  is preparing for the  European  championship  in  Boras  next  July.

 

Second place to Kiriaki Fititsakou (GRE) in 51:01.13

Third place to Maria-Ariadni Fatourou (GRE) in 54:55.78

 

 


 
 

 

 

10.000m track walk U20 men

 

Alexandros  Mortzakis, who  belongs  the  U18 category (only  16 years) won  the  gold  medal  (46:42.39) after  an  exiting   competition  with  Olga  Fiaska  and Anastasios  Stamos.

 

The  there athletes   were  together   from,   the  start  till  the  9.200 m, when  Olga Fiasks forced the pace and obtained  her  great  performance.

Alexandros  Mortzakis on  4 of  July  will  try  to  make  the  double   in  the  U18  championship   which  will  take place  in  Trikala.

 

Second place to Anastasios Stamos (GRE) in 47:23.82

Third place to Anthimos Kelepouris (GRE) in 48:34.23
