On Friday 26 July in Baku (AZE), the 5.000m U18 race walk event was held as part of the European Youth Festival (EYOF).

The male race had opened the athletics competitions and took place on Monday 22 July.
The temperature at the start of the race was 25° Celsius, but the humidity was very high (70%).
5.000m U18 women track walk
The favorite of the eve was Jekaterina Mirotvortseva (EST) who boasted two performances of high international level:

16 JUN 2019  Baltic Team Ch., Ogre  LATLAT  1.  22:52.44
27 JUN 2019  Estonian U18 Ch., Rakvere  ESTEST  1.  22:46.71
Only three athletes from Russia, who as we all know do not compete internationally, had done better than Mirotvortseva in the 2019 season (Yuliya Khalilova, Sabina Slesareva and Elvina Muratova).
The athlete from Estonia is leading the race from the beginning and right from the start we have the feeling that it will no longer be reached.
These are her split times each 1,000m:
- 1.000m: 4:36.02
- 2.000m: 9:09.96 (4:33.94)

Victory to Jekaterina Mirotvortseva (EST) in 22:26.01 which represents Estonia's new national record. The previous record belonged to the same athlete and was obtained in Rakvere (EST) on 27.6.2019 during the U18 Estonian Championships. Obviously it is also the national record U18, U20 and U23.
