22/08/2019   Lugano (SUI): Stefano Chiesa and Martina Ansaldi are the winner at the Evening Meeting

Saturday, August 17th at the Cornaredo stadium in Lugano took place the classic Evening Athletics Meeting, with two walking events on the distance of 10,000m track men and women.

The number of starters is not high, but in this holiday period, finding a Meeting that includes a long distance on track in a historic location is always a pleasure.

10.000m track walk men

There were eight athletes at the start.
The men's race found two athletes in the Italian national team at the start:
- Leonardo Dei Tos (ITA) which presented itself with a personal best of 40:06.73 (obtained in Bolzano, ITA on 6.5.2017) and a season best of 41:23.00 (obtained in Bergamo, ITA on 14.7.2019)
- Stefano Chiesa (ITA) who presented himself with a personal best of 40:34.56 (obtained in Agropoli, ITA on 1.6.2018) and a season best of 41:48.62 (obtained in Chiari, ITA on 11.5.2019)

The two Italian athletes walked shourdel to shoulder for up to 5km (around 21:00).
At that point of the race Leonardo Dei Tos that had come down to Lugano from Saint Moritz where he was for a training in altitude and where he had to return in the evening, he felt a pain of the biceps and he preferred to stop so as not to compromise the season that was excellent at the start, but then, due to an injury, had prevented him from participating in the Alytus European Cup.

Therefore, he had no difficulty in winning Stefano Chiesa (ITA) in 40:50.48 his second ever mark on this distance.
Second place to Jeff Vannosthuyse (FRA) in 48:54.10
Third place to Nathan Bonzon (SUI) in 54:44.55
