Also in this race one of the most representative athletes Tom Bosworth (GBR) is absent. Bosworth is the holder of the national record on distance with the mark of 18:43.28, established here in Birmingham on 2.2.2017.

But the public will certainly not be disappointed.

Immediately after the start Callum Wilkinson (GBR) takes the lead of the race with the clear goal of making the public forget about the absence of Tom Bosworth.
And so it is.

- 1.000m: 3:42.58
- 2.000m: 7:28.01 (3:45.43)
- 3.000m: 11:14.60 (3:46.59)

Second place to Cameron Corbishley (GBR) in 20:41.23
Third place to Tom Partington (GBR) in 22: 07.03.

Wilkinson was understandably buzzing with enthusiasm after the race:
I knew if I kept on that pace with the crowd behind me I could push on. When you’re gunning down that last lap and you know it’s time to do it.

“I went in targeting this and hoped for the best. Until you’re out on the track and walking the times you’re supposed to, it’s never a given.”

“I got compliment off one of the judges there who said it’s the best they’ve ever seen me walk – when someone says that, you know things are in the right place.

Rewritten the world list of the season 2019 on the distance of 5000m track walk (combined with the 5km road walk) that just yesterday we updated after Voronovo (RUS).
