30/08/2019   Radom (POL): Dawid Tomala and Katarzyna Zdzieblo Polish champions 2019






Radom (POL) hosted the national championships in Poland which took place on the classic 10,000m track walk distances for men and 5,000m track walk for women.

 

 

10.000m track walk men

 

Only eight athletes at the start, but a very interesting race under the competitive profile.

 

In the early stages of the race the leading group consisted of six of the eight starters and led by Dawid Tomala (POL) with the following split times:

- 1.000m: 4:11.5

- 2.000m: 8:26.47 (4:15.0)

- 3.000m: 12:44.9 (4:18.5)

- 4.000m: 17:02.27 (4:17.4)

- 5.000m: 21:24.9 (4:22.7)

Immediately after mid-race Dawid Tomala (POL) still tries to force the pace with a 1.000m walked in 4:15.9 (to 6.000m in 25:40.76), the others do not fall off.

The passage to 7,000m sees young Lukas Niedzialek (POL) take the lead in 30:02.1 (seventh 1.000m in 4:21.4)

 

There forces the pace Rafal Fedaczynski (POL) with 2.000 meters fast to the point that Lukas Niedzialek (POL) and Rafal Augustyn (POL) lose ground.

The split times are:

- 8.000m: 34:14.0 (4:12.0)

- 9.000m: 38:24.0 (4:10.0)

 

In the last 1.000m Dawid Tomala (POL) claims his greatest speed (3:56.50) and goes on to win the Champion of Poland title in 42:20.50

Second place to Rafal Sikora (POL) in 42:22.45

Third place to Rafal Fedaczynski (POL) in 42:23.99

 

 

5.000m track walk women

 

Six athletes at the start.

 

Undisputed victory to Katarzyna Zdzieblo (POL) in 22:23.64 new personal best (previous of 22.36.68 established in Stalowa Wola, POL on 19.9.2015).

These are her split times:

- 1.000m: 4:29.83

- 2.000m: 8:55.3 (4:25.5)

- 3.000m: 13:22.61 (4:27.4)

- 4.000m: 17:53.9 (4:31.3)

- last 1,000m. in 4:49.74)

 

Second place to Malgorzata Cetnarska (POL) in 24:52.65

Third place to Antonina Lorek (POL) in 25:41.39
