16/09/2019   Druskininkai (LTU): a storm of personal best in 10km

On the morning of Saturday, September 14, the traditional race walk meeting took place in Druskininkai (LTU), which this year has now reached the XXVII edition.

Good participation in the two elite races on the 10km distance.
Interesting participation in the youth categories, (as indeed happens in almost all of Europe) that have raced on the distance two 5km and lower for the very young.

10km men

Very interesting is the race that is lived on the intensity of the battle between the three most important protagonists: Arthur Mastianica (LTU), Marius Ziukas (LTU) and Aleksandr Liakhovich (BLR).
The three battled right from the first meter of the race, until in the final Arthur Mastianica (LTU) managed to prevail over the other two.

Victory to Arthur Mastianica (LTU) in 39:17 new personal best (previous 41:27 obtained in Bristonas, LTU on 28 April 2018)
Second place to Marius Ziukas (LTU) in 39:54 which touches on the personal best 39:47 obtained in Druskininkai, LTU on 6 September 2014)
Third place to Aleksandr Liakhovich (BLR) in 39:59 new personal best (prvious of 40:51 obtained in Druskininkai, LTU on 8 September 2018).

Three athletes under the time of 40:00 (which represents the threshold of nobility in the 10km) is not something you see every day.

10km women

Also in this race a great performance.

Victory to Zivile Vaiciukeviciute (LTU) in 43:04 new personal best (previous 44:43 obtained in Druskininkai, LTU on 8 September 2018)
Second place to Anastasiya Yatsevich (BLR) in 45:47
Third place to Monika Vaiciukeviciute (LTU) in 46:46
