02/11/2019   Trends of speed performances in women walking (20km and 50km)

Like every year at this time in the  Statistics section were published graphs updated for trends of speed performances in road walking events.

As done last year also in 2019 we made two big changes:
• The first was to limit the historical view of the past to 2000;
• We also continued the analysis of the speed trend in 50km women.

The years taken into consideration were:

• 20 Km. Women - best (from 2000 to 2019)

• 20 Km. Women - average of the first 20 (from 2000 to 2019)

• 50 Km. Women - top (from 2000 to 2019)

• 50 Km. Women – average of the first 20 (from 2000 to 2019)

Short comment

Also in 2019 continued the suspension of RusAthletics (Federation of Russia) from international competitions despite the fact some were admitted to compete as ANA.

But the athletes of that Country have competed as fare as possible at national level. Relevant results have been taken into consideration.

In 20km the athletes of the RusAthletics (Federation of Russia) that influence our graphs are the following two:

Yelena Lashmanova, who cannot compete outside of Russia, is the 1st in the world list of 2019 thanks to the time of 1:24:31 obtained with his victory in Sochi on February 18, 2019.
Elvira Khasanova, who cannot compete outside of Russia, is the 13th in the world rankings of 2019 thanks to the time of 1:28:03 obtained with the second place of Cheboksary (behind Yelena Lashmanova: 1:27:19) on June 15, 2019.

The most interesting result of the year, however, was that of Glenda Morejon (ECU), who still U20, in La Coruna canceled on June 8, 2019 for 1" (1:25:29) the best time ever of Anisiya Kornikova (at that time not yet Kirdyapkina) that on February 23, 2008 in Adler (RUS) had set a mark of 1:25:30.

It is all too evident that China monopolizes the world panorama of women's race walk in terms of performances. Moreover, at the Doha World Championships, between the 6 medals of the podium, 5 were awarded to the athletes from China.
