This evening, the Adnronos agency published an incredible news: Alex Schwazer came back to training and is counting to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The athlete's lawyer Gerhand Brandstaetter and the coach Alessandro Donati announced it.

Currently Schwazer is disqualified until 7.7.2024, but, as explained to Adnkronos Sandro Donati, he has decided to return to training "in the hope of a positive succeed of the proceedings" currently underway.

"As is known, in the evidential incident pending before the Criminal Court of Bolzano, investigating magistrate Walter Pelino, the serious indications on the manipulation of the positivity of Alex Schwazer are being materialized, with clear documentary and expert evidence", highlight Brandstaetter and Donati.

"Meanwhile, Schwazer's defense, represented and coordinated by the lawyer Brandstaetter, is also preparing complaints and appeals to be presented in those European Countries, in which responsibility and/or related competencies are rooted. We are well aware that, if the international sports institutions interested parties (in particular Iaaf and Wada) should continue to resist in every way, despite the evidence and the seriousness of the facts that emerged, the proceedings could be protracted”.

"Going back to training to hope to return to the races, Schwazer does not intend to provoke anyone, but only to reiterate and give substance to his innocence" and finally conclude "declares his full willingness to be, right away, subjected to any doping control, of course with the guarantees imposed by the current situation”.
