The award ceremony of the athlete of the year at the 2019 World Athletics Awards took place today at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco on Saturday 23 November.

Eliud Kipchoge (KEN) and Dalilah Muhammad (USA) were named the male and female World athletes 2019.

During the evening, the athletes who improved a world record in the season were also awarded, and then a prize went to Liu Hong (CHN) for the splendid 3:59:15 obtained in Huangshan on March 9th of this year.
