10/01/2020   Rochester (USA): USATF Niagara Indoor Track Championships - Victories of John Cody Risch and Miranda Melville






With a little delay we inform our readers of the USATF Niagara Indoor Track Championships which were held in Rochester, New York (USA) on Saturday 29 December 2019.

 
The two male and female events were held on the distance of 5.000m indoors in mixed form. Subsequently, two athletes continued until the 10,000m finish, which was also initially planned.
 
 
5.000m indoor men
 
The race had an interesting number of entries and the athletes were divided into two timed sessions (heats) with the results then unified. The accredited athletes of the best times competed in the first heat.
 
Victory for John Cody Risch (USA) in 21:36.88 who led the race for all 25 laps of the oval of the Gordon Fieldhouse
These are his split times:
- 1.000m: 4:15.96
- 2.000m: 8:33.00 (4:17.08)
- 3.000m: 12:54.64 (4:21.64)
- 4.000m: 17:16.81 (4:22.17)
- last 1.000m in (4:20:07)
 
Second place to Samuel Allen (USA) in 22:34.73. Started more slowly remained in fourth position up to 2,600m, and then, after a few laps in third position (up to 3,400m in 15:10.32), move to second place
Third place for AJ Gruttadauro (USA) in 22:37.90. Gruttadauro will then continue to the 10,000m indoor finish which it will reach in 46:48.73 (seconds 5.000m covered in 24:10.83)
 
 
 
5.000m indoor women
 
Victory to Miranda Melville (USA) of Chula Vista, California who finished third overall and first of women with a mark of 22:37.90. The athlete boasts a personal best on this distance of 22:23.91 obtained on the same facility in Rochester, USA on 29.12.2018.
These are her split times:
- 1.000m: 4:32.09
- 2.000m: 8:59:41 (4:27.32)
- 3.000m: 13:30.47 (4:31.06)
- 4.000m: 18:07.69 (4:37.22)
- last 1.000m in (4:30:21)
The mark obtained when  she pass the 3.000m qualifies Miranda Melville for the USATF Indoor Championships to be held in Albuquerque on 14.2.2020.
 
 
Second place for Chelsea Conway (USA) in 25: 45.45 (8th place overall)
Third place for Katie Miale (USA) in (9th place overall)
