09/03/2020   Lima (PER): South American walking championships - Ecuador and Colombia on the shields in the U20 and U18






 

 

 

The U20 and U18 races of the South American Race Walking Championship, which ended on Sunday 8 March on the Miraflores circuit in Lima, were dominated by representatives of Ecuador and Colombia respectively.

 
 
 
10km U20 men
 
Oscar Osvaldo Patin Manobanda (ECU) was the favorite of the 10 km race. of the U20, in which he presented himself with a personal best of 41:44 (on the road) obtained on 9.3.2019 in Sucua (ECU) and with a season best of 42:15 obtained on 15.2.2020 in Macas (ECU).
He had no difficulty in imposing his pace from the start and then won the race in 43:20, with great advantage over the chasers who were satisfied with silver and bronze.
 
Second place to Kauan Domingues Da Silva (BRA) in 45:39
Third place to Paulo Henrique Ribeiro (BRA) 45:39, in front of the local representative Kevin Salvador Cahuana Quispe by 20” (45:59).
 
 
10km U20 women
 
Paula Doménica Valdez, also from Ecuador, is the winner of the 10 km of U20 women with a mark of 51:14.
The podium was completed with Gabriela De Souza Muniz (BRA) second in 52:08 and Stephanie Eunice Chávez Urquizo (BOL) third in 52:17.
 
 
10km U18 boys
 
In the U18 category, we saw an interesting 1-2 of Colombian Team in men's 10km race.
Mateo Romero Blanco (COL) capable last year in La Coruna of a 44:48 was the favorite of the race and did not disappoint. He won 46:29 fairly easily for him little more than a workout.
Second place to Ronald Stiven Salla Garces in 47:01.
The bronze medal was for the home athlete Jaime Roliño Ccanto Argomedo (PER) with a mark of 47:15.
 
 
5km U18 girls
 
In the U18 category, another victory for Colombia in front of an athlete from Bolivia and two representatives from Ecuador
 
Victory to Natalia Pulido Acevedo (COL) in 24:54
Second place to Jhoselyn Cuizara Luque (BOL) in 25:03

Undisputed winner of these South American Championships is Ecuador which has won 9 medals, followed by Brazil (6) and Colombia (3).
