24/08/2020   Voronovo (RUS): Great performances by Marina Pandakova-Novikova and Vasily Mizinov. U18 Dmitry Gramachkov on the shields

Voronovo, near Moscow (RUS) yesterday hosted a new edition of the All Russian Race Walking Meeting “Moskovia” which in the past was known as Voronovo Meeting.

However, the distance was kept on the standard of the past meeting, that is 10km for both men and women.

Obviously there was a competition reserved only for athletes from Russia who, however, responded in a good number to the efforts of the organizers, including the "race director" Aleksandr Pyataev and Vadim Zlobin who collaborated with us together with Sergey. Nochevnyy in drafting the reports.

What happened at the Race Walking  Meeting in Voronovo can easily be called a turning point in the organization of fast walking competitions in Russia!
On the circular track located along the enbankment of the artificial lake, the public witnessed the pursuit race for the first time: the handicap was set at 3:40 equal to the difference in the records of the “Voronovo Cup” - since 2014.
In fact, the best results of the Voronovo Cup were those of Ukrainian athletes Ruslan Dmitrenko (38:50) and Lyudmila Olyanovskaya (42:30)
Women were the first to start, and it was immediately clear that only Marina Pandakova-Novikova and Nadezhda Sergeeva would be able to resist men.

Marina Pandakova-Novikova increases her pace (3km in 4:12) and takes a few seconds off Nadejda Sergeeva, then increasing the advantage in the following laps (4km in 4:09 and 5km in 4:11)

At 5km the situation is as follows:
- in the lead Marina Pandakova-Novikova in 20:54
- second place to Nadezhda Sergeeva in 21:20
- third place to Kristina Mavletova in 22:15
- follows Anastasia Taushkanova in 22:52 and gradually all the others

In the second part of the race the situation does not change.
The leadership of Marina Pandakova-Novikova is never questioned.
