13/10/2020   Modena (ITA): Sunday the Italian Walking Championships as part of the Endurance Festival

The "Endurance Festival" will take place on Sunday in Modena, combined with the Italian Individual Championships and the Race Walk Club Championship.

This season we remind you that all the National Championships of the various categories (Sen, U23, U20 and U18) did not see the running of walking events, which were grouped together with those of long distance running in a single competition called precisely Endurance Festival.

La Fratellanza of Modena, one of the historical clubs of athletics in Italy, has taken on the burden of carrying out which as regards the walking events will take place on the road along the 1km route drawn on Viale dell'Autodromo in front of the municipal sport field that hosts the races on track.

The challenge between Federico Tontodonati (SB: 39:48.14), Stefano Chiesa (SB: no mark) and the multiple Italian champion Francesco Fortunato (SB: 40:48.2h) who is looking for an encore after the indoors has to be deciphered.
The reigning champion Gianluca Picchiottino (SB: no mark) is also at the start after his competitive return after inflammation of the tibial tendon that kept him still until the second week of September, Leonardo Dei Tos (SB: 41:12:96) who gave up on Podebrady to focus on the appointment in Modena, Ettore Grillo (SB: 43:18:14), Marco De Luca (SB: 42:24.4h) and Andrea Agrusti (SB: 42:25.3h).

On the track - not on the road - up to now Tontodonati has stood out in particular (sixth in the World in 2020) and the European U20 silver Riccardo Orsoni (SB: 40:51.02) has improved by one minute, the obligatory favorite among the U23, where he meets Giacomo Brandi (SB: 41:07:18).

U20

The junior race with three international youth medalists is of interest: the U18 European champion 2018 Davide Finocchietti (SB: no mark), recently dropped to 19:56.12 in Marina di Carrara in the 5000 track walk, the silver Aldo Andrei (SB: 46:00.04) and the gold of the Eyof 2019 Gabriele Gamba (SB: 42:39:64) without forgetting the fourth of the U20 European Championships of Boras Andrea Cosi (SB: 41:59:34).

U18

Among the U18 boys, the seasonal list “say” Emiliano Brigante (SB: 44:55:96), but pay attention to the Italian indoor champion Nicola Lomuscio (SB: 44:05 road), Diego Giampaolo (SB: 44:48.6h) and Pietro Pio Notaristefano (SB: 44:15:25).

Senior

Antonella Palmisano has been missing the Italian 10 km title since 2014: Modena is an opportunity to take it back.
Among those who cultivate podium ambitions we should mention Mariavittoria Becchetti and Nicole Colombi, who started strong in the 5000m respectively in Tivoli and Milan on 3 October.
And Lidia Barcella (Bracco Atletica) is also going through a good time.

U23

Beatrice Foresti above all for something good, where Vittoria Giordani is also registered.

U20

Among the juniors, Sara Buglisi stood out at the indoor, but in the last race on the track in Milan Simona Bertini made a good result at 5,000m and Martina Casiraghi should not be underestimated.

U18

Among the students (5 km), indoor champion Giada Traina (SB: 24: 12.11), who also won from U16, and Alexandrina Mihai (SB: 25: 01.0h) who triumphed last year in Agropoli could compete.
