Today it has been exactly seven years since Agnieska Dygacz (POL) improved her Polish record with a time of 1:28:58 in Taicang, China during the Team World Championships.
And it's been a few years since the official results of some walking races no longer register her name.
The last time it happened was on October 20, 2019, in Ivano-Frankinvsk (UKR) when unfortunately, alongside her order of arrival, we found a laconic DNF recorded.
Today the beautiful Polish athlete leaves a post on her Facebook page with the message that “The time has come to officially end my walking career. These have been great years, I wouldn't trade them for anyone else. I met a lot of great people, I visited the world and I had a lot of unforgettable moments. On the one hand, it was a time full of joys and victories, on the other sadness and failure ”.
Reading and re-reading, in search of news, in that large container that is used to call Social Network, we had perceived something new from a post by Agnieska on April 20, 2020. A beautiful way to let us participate in a new sensation, of a new love on the horizon.
Today she confirms it: “Some time ago I started preparing for mountain races with the 42k Pro Team”.
“I thank all those who have supported and motivated me to continue working. The memories and experiences I have collected over time will stay with me forever.
I am not disappearing from the sports world, however, because it is not possible. My ambitions are simply getting high, so in the near future I hope to wear a t-shirt with "an eagle on the chest" again."
Following your own feelings, for an athlete, is always the light to follow.
