23/07/2021   The CAS of Lausanne has been disqualified for 4 years from 4.11.2019 Lebogang Shange (RSA) who will not participate in the Olympic Games






 

 

 

Our readers will certainly remember that recently with our news of 26 June 2021 click here ) regarding the return to compete of Lebogang Shange (RSA) we had expressed some perplexities not knowing how the case of 4.11.2019 was solved (notified on 19.12.2019) for the violation of art. 2.1 of the anti-doping regulations (presence of prohibited substances - Trenbolone, an anabolic steroid).
 
In the environment of race walking it was rumored that his suspension was provisionally suspenden by his federation, as it was assumed that the athlete only participated in a party in which there had been consumption of prohibited substances.
 
Today the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has issued its decision in the arbitration procedure between South African race walker Lebogang Shange and World Athletics (WA):
 
1.- Following a positive test with trenbolone (anabolic steroid), Lebogang Shange is found to have committed anti-doping rule violations pursuant to Rule 2.1 and Rule 2.2 of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules in force from 1 November 2019.
 
2.- Lebogang Shange is sanctioned with a four-year period of ineligibility, commencing on the date of the present Award (22.7.2021). The period of ineligibility served during the period of provisional suspension imposed on Lebogang Shange from 19 December 2019 until 7 June 2021 and from 30 June 2021 through the date of the CAS award shall be credited against the total period of ineligibility.
 
3.- All the competitive results obtained by Lebogang Shange from 4 November 2019 are disqualified, with all the resulting consequences, including the forfeiture of any titles, awards, medals, points and prize and appearance money.
 
The CAS Panel has issued its decision only, without the grounds which will be notified in short order.
