The U20 National Championships of Spain took place this weekend in Torrent, a city located about thirty kilometres southwest of Valencia.
Two walking events took place as follows:
- 10,000m track walk for women, Saturday 16 July at 10:00
- 10,000m track walk for men, Sunday 16 July at 9:45
10.000m track walk U20 women
Eleven athletes were registered, but only ten showed up at the start.
Easy victory for Lucia Redondo Arvid (ESP) who ends her race in 48:39.39 a time almost one minute higher than her personal best (47:48.54) set in Nerjia (ESP) last June 24th.
Second place to Veronica Victoria Fernandez Fernandez (ESP) in 50:55.38. On the other hand, still seventeen (she will turn 18 next August 29), she gets her new personal best having competed on this distance for the first time.
Third place went to Noa Rodriguez Izquierdo (ESP) in 54:43.89
10.000m track walk U20 men
Eleven athletes showed up at the start.
The favorite of the eve for the victory, Pablo Pastor Marin (ESP), who boasts a personal best of 43:55.63 established in Nerjia (ESP) last June 25, but also a 42.30 on the road distance of 10km (dating back to 14.2.2021 in Seville), was disqualified by the jury.
Green disc then for the victory to Oscar Martinez Rodriguez (ESP) in 45:18.60 who, however, to get the U20 title, had to fight against Pablo Pastor's teammate, Pablo Rodriguez Rojas who finished second in 45:24.11 .
Third place went to Rodrigo Santaelena Garcia (ESP) in 49:28.25
