The 59th All Japan 35km Race Walk Takahata Tournament will be held in Takahata on Sunday October 23, 2022.
LOC will reduce the scale as a countermeasure against the new corona infectious disease and ask for the understanding and cooperation of all participating players.
As usual the All Japan Race Walk in Takahata (JPN) is valid as one of the three selection for the Japan team for major events of coming year.
The edition on 2022 will be valid as:
- Selection of the Japan National Team (35km) for Budapest 2023 World Athletics Championships
- Selection of the Japan National Team (35km) for Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games
Competition venue will be as usual in the Takahata Chamber of Commerce and Industry Area as below scheduled:
- 35km men & women: 8:00
- 20km men “All Japan”: 8:10
- 20km women “All Japan”: 8:30

In the 35km men 21 athletes are entered while in the 35km women only 7 athletes.
The list of entries in the 20km is much larger, with 50 men (including an athlete from Hong Kong) and 21 women.
But the most interesting participation should be that of Toshikazu Yamanishi who, stimulated by the victory of Massimo Stano (ITA) in the 35km in Oregon 2022, will experience the thrill of long distance for the first time.
If we do not consider the 20km Olympic in Sapporo, in which he was beaten by both Massimo Stano and teammate Koki Ikeda, Toshikazu Yamanishi has an impressive curriculum.
His last defeat, if defeated can be called a third place, dates back to 17.2.2019 in the 20km of Kobe.
Since:
- three 20km wins in 2019: Nomi (Mar. 13 - Asian 20km Championships); La Coruna (Jun. 8 - Cantones); Doha (Oct. 4 - World Athletics Championships)
- a win on the 20km in 2020: Kobe (Feb. 16 - Japan Championships) and a win on the 5.000m track walk in Kumagaya (Sep. 19 - 68th All Japan Corporate team Championships)
- a 20km victory in 2021: Kobe (Feb. 21 - Japan Championships) and the 3rd place in Sapporo
- two 20km victories in 2022: Muscat (Mar. 5 - World Race Walking Team Championships); Eugene (Jul.15 World Athletics Championships)
Other interesting names are Subaru Ishida, Motofumi Suwa, Satoshi Maruo and Hayato Katsuki.
In women the names to follow are those of Serena Sonoda, Maika Yagi and Masumi Fuchise
