The 35km of the 12th edition of the South American Games that takes place in Asunción, is scheduled with start at 6:00am for men and the women at 6:15am and will be carried out on a road circuit in the Bay of Asunción (Club Mbiguá, Av. Costanera).

35km walk men
Seven athletes at the start representing five Countries (with season best marks):

Up to 20km the race left her had little interest.
Immediately after 21km the first twist: Cristian Andres Choco (ECU) who had passed just before at 21.75km in 1:27:40 stops and leaves the company of seven.
Two km later will follow him in the same fate Luis Henriques Campos (PER)
Five remain in the race, but soon Juan Manuel Cano (ARG) and in particular Jorge Armando Ruiz Fajardo (COL) detach themselves definitively and three remain to wad for the medals: Bonfim, Rodriguez, and Pinzon.
It will be a close battle until the end and the three will finish the 35km spaced, between the first and the third, of 1:10.

Today is a great day of success for the Brazilian walk.
It is 9:05:57 local time in Asuncion (PAR) and it was just 1:01:40 from the victory of Caio Bonfim in the men's 35km that another Brazilian athlete, Viviane Santana Lyra, won the women's 35km walk of the XII edition of the Juegos Sur-Americanos.
The beautiful 29-year-old Brazilian finished eighth in Eugene on July 22 at the World Championships with a time of 2:45:02 which represented Brazil's new national record.
Today her victory in the XII edition of the Juegos Sur-Americanos is accompanied by a quieter time (2:50:57), but that does not detract from her splendid victory.
