18/12/2022   Dublin (IRL): Aurelien Quinion (FRA) and Mayara Vicentainer (BRA) are the winners of 35km open Irish Championships






 

 

The 35km Irish National Open Championships took place today in Dublin (IRL) and the 20km.

The competition was valid as a Bronze level of the World Athletics Race walking Tour.

 

 

35km men

 

- at 5km: Aurelien Quinion (FRA) leads the race in 22:26 ahead of Carl Dohmann (GER) in 22:47, Perseus Karlstrom (SWE) and Nick Christie (USA) in 22:48.

 

- at 10km: Nick Christie (USA) took a lead of 10 seconds

His time is 45:13 (with the second 5km covered in 22:15)

Followed by Karlstrom (SWE), Quinion (FRA) and Dohmann (GER) in 45:23 (with the second 5km covered in 22:25)

Further behind Callum Wilkinson (GBR) in 46:04

 

- at 15km: Nick Christie (USA) is always in the lead and his margin of advantage is now 1:04

His time is 1:07:10 (with the third 5km covered in 21:57).

In second position passes Perseus Karlstrom (SWE) in 1:08:02 (with the third 5km covered in 22:39).

Aurelien Quinion (FRA) and Carl Dohmann (GER) follow him in 1:08:14

 

- at 20km: still in the lead Nick Christie (USA) is still in the lead and his margin of advantage is now 1:22

His time is 1:29:20 (with the fourth 5km covered in 22:10).

In second position now passes Aurelien Quinion (FRA) in 1:30:42 (with the fourth 5km covered in 22:48)

Third position for Perseus Karlstrom (SWE) in 1:30:51 (with the 5km quarters covered in 22:49)

In fourth place we find Carl Dohmann (GER) in 1:31:03 (with the fourth 5km covered in 22:49)

 

- at 25km: still in the lead Nick Christie (USA) is still in the lead but his margin of advantage is now 1:17

His time is 1:51:39 (with the fifth 5km covered in 22:19).

Third position for Perseus Karlstrom (SWE) in 1:52:52 who however has only a 3” advantage over Carl Dohmann (GER) who passes in 1:53:33.

 

- at 30km

Aurelien Quinion (FRA) caught and passed Nick Christie (USA) during the 30km.

Their passages are the following: in the lead Aurelien Quinion (FRA) in 2:15:27 (with the sixth 5km covered in 22:31), while in second position Nick Christie (USA) in 2:15:36 (with the sixth 5km covered in 23:57)

Behind them Carl Dohmann (GER) in 2:17:11 (with the sixth 5km covered in 23:16)

Perseus Karlstrom (SWE) instead abandoned the race shortly after the 28km after a persistent crisis of over 5km which had seen him complete his last 5 laps in 5:12, 4:29, 4:457, 5:36 and 5: 54

 

At 35km

 

Victory to Aurelien Quinion (FRA) in 2:39.05 with the last 5km covered in 23:38

Second place to Nick Christie (USA) in 2:41:03

Third place to Carl Dohmann (GER) in 2:41:31
