21/01/2020   Quarteira (POR): victories of Ana Cabecinha and Edna Barros in women and Pedro Dias in men






Outdoor track activity has started in Portugal.

Over the weekend between 18 and 19 January 2020, the Algarve Regional Track Championships were held in Quarteira in the Algarve (POR).
The walking events were held over the distance of:
-  5.000m track walk for men
- 3.000m track walk for women, but there was also the possibility to choose for the distance of the 5.000m track walk. The latter distance was chosen by Ana Cabecinha and Edna Barros.
 
The races took place on the first day of Saturday on a rainy and wet day.
 
 
5.000m track walk men
 
Nine athletes at the start and all completed the race.
 
Victory for Pedro Dias (POR) in 21:55.48 which gets the new personal best on the distance (previous of 22:30.51 obtained in Fatima, POR on 13.7.2019.
The young athlete of the Oriental Pechao Club (born 21.2.2003) has already obtained a new personal best of 22:26 on 12.1.2020 on the 5km on the road, but this weekend he managed, seven days later, to improve again.
Second place to Tiago Ramos (POR) in 22:03.40
Third place to Ludovino Dias (POR) in 27:18.26
 
 
5.000m track walk women
 
The two bearers of the Oriental Pechao Club walked together throughout the race and shared the two wins over the 3,000m and 5,000,
 
This time the longest distance saw the victory of Edna Barros (POR) in 21:53.86 not so far from the new personal best (21:37.25 obtained in Faro, Algarve, POR il 19.3.2019)
Second place to Ana Cabecinha (POR) in 21:54.48
 
Last 12.1.2020, on the distance of 5km on the road, of the Ana Cabecinha Trophy the two had crossed the finish line together (also with the winner of the race men Pedro Dias) concluding in 22:26, ​​but with the victory assigned to the Cabecinha.
 
 
3.000m track walk women
 
There was nothing surprising if the victory in the shorter women's race has given to Ana Cabecinha in 13:19.21.
Second place to Edna Barros (POR) in 13:19.26 which also establishes the new personal best (previous of 13:24.98 obtained on 13.6.2015 in Vagos, POR)
Third place in Anabela Moreira (POR) in 16:25.66
