Guadagnano una ventina di metri sul gruppo.
Poco prima dei 5 km Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez forza il passo e assieme a lei resta solo Kimberly Garcia (PER). Passano ai 4km in 21:50.
Le due atlete marciano quasi spalla a spalla, ma è sempre la messicana a condurre. Per contro la Peruviana fa vedere una bellissima impostazione tecnica con un movimento delle anche da manuale.

A quattro giri dalla fine Kimberly Garcia (PER) ha dimezzato lo svantaggio e ora segue Maria Guadalupe Gonzalex (MEX) (1:10.45 contro 1:10:53) ma è il canto del cigno.
La messicana forza ancora il passo e quando mancano due giri all'arrivo ha un vantaggio di circa 20" sull'atleta di casa. Sempre terza è Paula Bibiana Perez Saquipay (ECU) mentre al quarto posto è Sandra Lorena Arenas (COL) seguita dalla compagna di squadra Sandra Viviana Galvis (COL).
