Primi 5 km

 

Al 1km: passa in testa ad un folto gruppo di atleti Gabriel Bordier (FRA) in 4:18. Lo seguono Giacomo Brandi (ITA) e Niccolò Coppini (ITA), Vasiliy Mizinov (ANA), Viktor Shumik (UKR), Yeordyios Tzatzimakis (GRE), Callum Wilkinson (GBR) in 4:20 .

Ai 2km: Salih Korkmaz (TUR) guadagna la testa della gara assieme a Gabriel Bordier (FRA) in (8:24 -  4:06). Seguono Mizinov (ANA), Shumik (UKR), Wilkinson (GBR), Zabuzhenko (UKR) in 8:26.  Dietro a loro Coppini (ITA) in 8:27.

Ai 3km: sono in quattro in testa alla gara in 12:32 (4:08) (Bordier, FRA - Korkmaz, TUR, Mizinov, ANA e Wilkinson, GBR). Seguono Shumik (UKR) e Zabuzhenko (UKR) in 12:34

Ai 4km: guida la gara Salih Korkmaz (16:32 - 4:00) e il gruppo degli inseguitori si compone ora di 4 unità (Bordier, Mizinov, Wilkinson Zabuzhennko) che passano in 16:37. Poco dietro Shumik Manuel Bermudez e Yeordyios Tzatzimakis (GRE) sul quale pesano due red cards per contatto.

Ai 5km: Sempre Salih Korkmaz (20:33 - 4:01) in testa alla gara con 10” di vantaggio sugli immediati inseguitori. Si è avvicinato al gruppo di testa Cameron Corbishley (GBR - 21:06)

Poco dopo i 5 km viene squalificato Yeordyios Tzatzimakis (GRE): quattro red cards per contatto.

 

 

Secondi 5 km

 

Ai 6km: Salih Korkmaz (24:35 - 4:02) continua a guidare la gara. Ora il suo vantaggio sui quattro inseguitori Mizinov (ANA), Bordier (FRA), Wilkinson (GBR), Zabuzhenko (UKR) è di 13”. Più dietro Shumik (UKR) in 24:57 e Manuel Bermudez (ESP) in 25:08. Arriva una red card per mancanza di contatto a carico di Callum Wilkinson (GBR) e una per Sbloccaggio del ginocchio a Carico di Niccolò Coppini (ITA)

Ai 7km: Sempre in testa Salih Korkmaz (28:34 - 3:59), ma dietro Callum Wilkinson (GBR) e Vasiliy Mizinov (ANA) in 28:28,  hanno staccato Zabuzhenko (UKR) in 28:50 e Bordier (FRA) in 28:55.

Anche l’altro Italiano Ettore Grillo ha una red cards per sbloccaggio del ginocchio, mentre il Francese David Kuster, che all’inizio stagione ha fatto faville nelle indoor, ne ha due sempre per sbloccaggio.

Aglii 8km: Sempre in testa Salih Korkmaz (32:29 - 3:55). Seguono a 20” Callum Wilkinson (GBR) e Vasiliy Mizinov (ANA). Dietro a loro Zabuzhenko (32:54) e poi Bordier (33:11). Anche Cameron Corbishley è gravato da una red card per mancanza di contatto, ma Callum Wilkinson è messo peggio: due red card, la sua gara ora è a rischio.

Ai 9km: Sempre in testa Salih Korkmaz (36:25 - 3:56). Seguono Seguono a 25” Callum Wilkinson (GBR) e Vasiliy Mizinov (ANA) anche lui con una red card per mancanza di contatto. Con un ritardi di 1:00 transita Zabuzhenko (37:00) seguito da Manuel Bermudez e Viktor Shumik in 37:35.Arriva la seconda red card a carico di Cameron Corbishley (mancanza di contatto).

A metà gara: Sempre in testa Salih Korkmaz (40:20 - 3:55). Vasiliy Mizinov (40:52) rompe gli indugi e allunga su Callum Wilkinson (40:53). Li seguono Zabuzhenko (41:04), Bermudez (41:46), Shumik (41:49 e Corbishley (42:06).

 

 

Terzi 5 km

 

Agli 11km: Sempre in testa Salih Korkmaz (44:14 - 3:56). Seguono Vasiliy Mizinov (44:56) e Callum Wilkinson (44:57) a loro volta seguiti da Zabuzhenko (45:12), Bermudez (45:56), Shumik (46:05) e Corbishley (46:19)

Ai 12km: Sempre in testa Salih Korkmaz (48:10 - 3:56). Seguono Vasiliy Mizinov (48:57) e Callum Wilkinson (49:03) e poi da Zabuzhenko (49:21), Bermudez (50:07), Shumik (50:22) e Corbishley (50:33). Arrivano le seconde dred cards per sbloccaggio a carico di Coppini (ITA) e Dominik Cerny SVK), che però sono lontani dalle posizioni di testa.

Ai 13km: Sempre in testa Salih Korkmaz (52:08 - 3:58). Seguono Vasiliy Mizinov (53:01) e Callum Wilkinson (53:13) e poi da Zabuzhenko (53:32), Bermudez (54:15), Shumik (54:39) e Corbishley (54:44) che è stato raggiunto da Abdulselam Imuk (TUR) e Ivan Lopez (ESP).

Ai 14km: Sempre in testa Salih Korkmaz (56:09 - 4:01). Seguono Vasiliy Mizinov (57:03) che ormai ha staccato di 20” Callum Wilkinson (57:23). Dietro a loro: Zabuzhenko (57:45), Bermudez (58:24), Corbishley (58:57) assieme a Abdulselam Imuk (TUR), Viktor Shumik (UKR) e Ivan Lopez (ESP).

Ai 15km: Sempre in testa Salih Korkmaz (1:00:10 - 4:01). Seconda posizione per  Vasiliy Mizinov (1:01:08 - +0:58) seguito da Callum Wilkinson (1:01:33) e poi da Eduard Zabuzhenko (1:02:00), Manuel Bermudez (1:02:37). Più distanti Corbishley (1:03:11) Imuk (1:03:12) che però ha due red cards a suo carico.

 

 

Ultimi 5 km

 

Ai 16km: Sempre in testa Salih Korkmaz (1:04:16 - 4:06). In seconda posizione Vasiliy Mizinov (1:05:16 - +1:00) seguito da Callum Wilkinson (1:05:46 - +1:30). Dietro a loro Eduard Zabuzhenko (1:06:17), Manuel Bermudez (1:06:49). Più distanti Absulselam Imuk e Ivan Lopez (1:07:30). Cameron Corbishley viene fermato nella Zona di Penalità (mancanza di contatto).

Ai 17km: Sempre in testa Salih Korkmaz (1:08:20 - 4:04). In seconda posizione Vasiliy Mizinov (1:09:21 - +1:01) seguito da Callum Wilkinson (1:09:57 - +1:37). Dietro a loro Eduard Zabuzhenko (1:10:38), Manuel Bermudez (1:11:03). Più distanti Absulselam Imuk (1:11:51) e Ivan Lopez (1:11:51). 

Ai 18km: Sempre in testa Salih Korkmaz (1:12:38 - 4:18). Si fa sentire la fatica per Korkmaz in questo giro e Vasiliy Mizinov (1:13:36) si porta a 58” seguito da Callum Wilkinson (1:14:07). La lotta per le medaglia sembra sia finita perchè Eduard Zabuzhenko (1:15:01) è abbastanza distante.

Dietro a lui  Manuel Bermudez (1:15:22), Absulselam Imuk (1:16:08) e Ivan Lopez (1:16:12). 

Ai 19km: Sempre in testa Salih Korkmaz (1:17:10 - 4:42) ma in piena crisi. Ora solamente 33” lo separano da Mizinov (1:17:43). Per il bronzo Callum Wilkinson è abbastanza tranquillo in 1:18:09.

Dietro a loro Eduard Zabuzhenko (1:19:28), Manuel Bermudez (1:19:48). 

 

Negli ultimi 1000m succede di tutto. 

Vasiliy Mizinov (ANA) va in caccia di Salih Korkmaz e lo raggiunge, nonostante abbia subito la seconda red card per contatto. Lo supera e va a vincere in 1:21:29

Salih Korkmaz (TUR) si deve accontentare dell’argento, dopo che per tutta la gara aveva sognato l’oro, in 1:21:32 che però rappresenta il nuovo record nazionale della Turchia.

Quarto posto a Eduard Zabuzhenko (UKR) in 1:23:54

Quinto posto per Manuel Bermudez (ESP) in 1:24:17

Due parole sugli atleti Italiani:

 

 

Giacomo Brandi arriva 14° in 1:28:36, a fronte per personal best di 1:26:03 (ottenuto a Podebrady, CZE il 7.4.2018) e del season best di 1:27:06 ottenuto a La Coruna lo scorso 8.6.2019.

Niccolò Coppini arriva 15° in 1:29:18, a fronte per personal best e season best di 1:27:11 (ottenuto a La Coruna lo scorso 8.6.2019).

Ettore Grillo arriva 18° in 1:37:44, a fronte per personal best e season best di 1:26:36 (ottenuto a Podebrady, CZE il 6.4.2019

 

Decisamente da loro ci si attendeva qualcosa di più, anche considerando la loro situazione tecnica che li ha visti terminare tutti con una o due red card a loro carico.

At 1km: Gabriel Bordier (FRA)  is leading a large group of athletes in 4:18. He is followed by Giacomo Brandi (ITA) and Niccolò Coppini (ITA), Vasiliy Mizinov (ANA), Viktor Shumik (UKR), Yeordyios Tzatzimakis (GRE), Callum Wilkinson (GBR) in 4:20.
At 2km: Salih Korkmaz (TUR) takes the lead with Gabriel Bordier (FRA) in (8:24 - 4:06). Followed by Mizinov (ANA), Shumik (UKR), Wilkinson (GBR), Zabuzhenko (UKR) in 8:26. Behind them Coppini (ITA) in 8:27.
At 3km: four at the top of the race at 12:32 (4:08) (Bordier, FRA - Korkmaz, TUR, Mizinov, ANA and Wilkinson, GBR). Followed by Shumik (UKR) and Zabuzhenko (UKR) in 12:34
At 4km: Always Salih Korkmaz leads the race (16:32 - 4.00) and the group of pursuers is now composed of 4 athletes (Bordier, Mizinov, Wilkinson and Zabuzhennko) which pass in 16:37. Just behind them, Shumik, Manuel Bermudez and Yeordyios Tzatzimakis (GRE) who is charged by two red cards per contact.
At 5km: Always Salih Korkmaz (20:33 - 4:01) leading the race with 10" advantage over the immediate followers. He approached the head group Cameron Corbishley (GBR - 21:06)
Shortly after 5 km Yeordyios Tzatzimakis (GRE) is disqualified: four red cards of loss of contact.
 
 
Second 5 km
 
At 6km: Salih Korkmaz (24:35 - 4:02) continues to lead the race. Now his advantage over Mizinov (ANA), Bordier (FRA), Wilkinson (GBR), Zabuzhenko (UKR) is 13". More behind Shumik (UKR) in 24:57 and Manuel Bermudez (ESP) in 25:08. A red card arrives (loss of contact) against Callum Wilkinson (GBR) and one (bent knee) against Niccolò Coppini (ITA)
At 7km: Salih Korkmaz (28:34 - 3:59) still in the lead, but behind Callum Wilkinson (GBR) and Vasiliy Mizinov (ANA) in 28:28, they cut Zabuzhenko (UKR) in 28:50 and Bordier (FRA ) in 28:55.
Even the other Italian Ettore Grillo has a red card (bent knee), while the Frenchman David Kuster, who at the start of the season did sparks indoors, has two (bent knee).
At 8km: Always in the head Salih Korkmaz (32:29 - 3:55). Followed by 20" Callum Wilkinson (GBR) and Vasiliy Mizinov (ANA). Behind them Zabuzhenko (32:54) and then Bordier (33:11). Second position for Vasiliy Mizinov (1:01:08 - +0 58) followed by Callum Wilkinson (1:01:33) and then by Eduard Zabuzhenko (1:02:00), Manuel Bermudez (1:02:37) . At 17km: Always in the head Salih Korkmaz (1:08:20 - 4:04). In second position Vasiliy Mizinov (1:09:21 - +1 01) followed by Callum Wilkinson (1:09:57 - +1: 37). Behind them Eduard Zabuzhenko (1:10:38), Manuel Bermudez (1:11:03). More distant Absulselam Imuk (1:11:51) and Ivan Lopez (1:11:51).
At 18km: Always in the head Salih Korkmaz (1:12:38 - 4:18). The fatigue is felt for Korkmaz in this round and Vasiliy Mizinov (1:13:36) goes to 58" followed by Callum Wilkinson (1:14:07). The fight for the medal seems to be over, because Eduard Zabuzhenko (1:15:01) is quite distant.
Behind him Manuel Bermudez (1:15:22), Absulselam Imuk (1:16:08) and Ivan Lopez (1:16:12).
At 19km: Always in the head Salih Korkmaz (1:17:10 - 4:42) but in full crisis. Now only 33" separate him from Mizinov (1:17:43). For the bronze Callum Wilkinson is fairly quiet in 1:18:09.
Behind them Eduard Zabuzhenko (1:19:28), Manuel Bermudez (1:19:48).
 
In the last 1km, everything happens.
Vasiliy Mizinov (ANA) goes to catch for Salih Korkmaz and joins him, despite having suffered the second red card by loss of contact. He overcomes it and goes on to win in 1:21:29
Salih Korkmaz (TUR) must be satisfied with silver, after he had dreamed of gold all through the race, in 1:21:32, which however represents Turkey's national record.

Giacomo Brandi arrives 14th in 1:28:36, compared to the personal best of 1:26:03 (obtained in Podebrady, CZE on 7.4.2018) and the season best of 1:27:06 obtained in La Coruna last month - 8.6.2019.

Something more was expected from them, even considering their technical situation, which saw them all end up charged by one or two red cards .
